For someone living outside the United States, I think that Lincoln is an excellent movie with some parts difficult to understand. And..sometimes…that can be boring for some of us. Continue reading
Friends, many of us are familiar with Tim Kring’s masterpiece (season 1 at least) Heroes. But do you know Alphas? Is it worth your time? Here’s some advice to help you out with this one. In a future post I will certainly take time to compare Heroes and Alphas, but for now I give you my impressions. Let me get one thing straight first: it’s not your random SyFy show.
Alphas focuses on a group of people with special abilities. Dr. Rosen is the one responsible for treating them. But besides being patients of Dr Rosen they work with the government to stop Alphas who have used their abilities for bad purposes. Season 1 introduced the main characters as there is no true protagonist. However in season 2, the existence of Alphas was revealed and things changed. There is more crime, more action and more drama.
Why you should watch it – For starters, this show sets the tone between characters as if it were real life and that’s a good development to see. If you like action, you must indulge yourself into the world of Alphas. But I also recommend it to persons who like to see how the characters handle their own problems personally.
Why you shouldn’t watch it – Alphas lacks the mystery we got in Heroes and fans will probably agree with me. Things are logical on this show: Dr Rosen tries to explain them scientifically though they make no sense, but still. On Heroes people can fly and can shoot things out from their hands, they are able to do teleportation and that kind of unexplainable stuff. Here that’s not the case – the powers or special abilities have been portrayed in a somewhat average way. It depends whether you yourself will like that. I do, because Alphas makes me believe more in these kind of things than Heroes has done.
Names? – Starring David Strathairn, Ryan Cartwright, Warren Christie, Azita Ghanizada, Laura Mennell, Malik Yoba, Erin Way and created by Zak Penn and Michael Karnow. Directed by Jack Bender.
Tune in to Alphas at 8/7c on SyFy.
