The Alphabet Movie Meme

The Alphabet Movie Meme

Something that catched my eye when I was browsing the web last night is a really cool feature created by Katy over at The Drama Llama. It’s called The Alphabet Movie Meme and it’s basically about combining each letter of the alphabet to a related movie theme or question. Without further ado, I present you my picks for the Alphabet Movie Meme.

Anticipating Movie of 2014

Interstellar (poster)

The teaser trailer to Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar was released a few weeks ago and even though it’s set to premiere ‘a year from now’, it left me wanting more and more — exactly what a teaser trailer is supposed to do.

Book Adaptation I’d Love to See

Stormbreaker (1)

One of my favorite, if not most favorite, modern YA writers has to be Anthony Horowitz. I’ve read through all of his books and I really enjoyed the Alex Rider-series. In summary, the story revolves around a teenager who gradually becomes MI6’s top spy. Now, there has already been a book adaptation based on the first novel, Operation Stormbreaker, featuring the debuting Alex Pettyfer in the lead role, Sarah Bolger (The Tudors, Once Upon a Time), Damian Lewis (Homeland) and other big names in Hollywood and Pinewood (the British equivalent). But it surprises me that film studios haven’t taken up any sequels for production yet. The novels mature as the series progresses and I’d love to see some thrilling YA spy films for a change.

Celebrity I’d Most Like To Meet
Jensen Ackles

No words are needed to describe this force of nature from the CW’s Supernatural. The picture says it all — I’d love to meet Jensen Ackles someday.

Dream Director Actor Pairing

Christopher Nolan & Jim Caviezel

Truth be told, I was secretly hoping two things over the summer (other than getting sunburnt): 1. Christopher Nolan would be the director to continue The Dark Knight trilogy; and 2. Jim Caviezel (Person of Interest) would play Batman. The idea is so awesome… Can’t even handle it.

Essential Classic Film

Breakfast at Tiffany's (banner)

Breakfast at Tiffany’s should be on anyone’s list. It’s that good, and highly entertaining. Watching it for the first time a couple of years ago, I was completely spellbound by the one and only Audrey Hepburn.

Favorite Film Franchise

Harry Potter (banner)

I’m probably not the only one who opted for the Harry Potter choice, but that’s because it’s such an enthralling a highly original franchise. I grew up reading the novels, and watching the films over the years has introduced me not only to some great actors and filmmakers, but it has also opened up a new, magical world.

Genre I Watch The Most

There is nothing I won’t watch. While my favorite genre is drama, more specifically, I watch a lot of movies from the thriller genre, because of all the twists and suspense I guess. Can’t live without it.

Hidden Gem

Disconnect (banner)

I highly recommend all of you to watch Disconnect. It’s perhaps one of the most underrated festival movies out there, but it’s certainly worth the time. It doesn’t have a central story as it follows various people in life, but it does follow the central idea of cause & consequences in life.

Important Moment in My Film Life

Considering that I do have a life and in this case ‘a film life’, an important moment would be when I went to see 14 films in the cinema in 7 consecutive days (summer 2012). That’s when I ultimately realized that watching films was one thing, but writing about films actually would be the remedy to still my hunger to watch more and more. That’s the kind of monster I am.

Just Right for A Rainy Day

Lincoln (banner)

I don’t watch a lot of films on most rainy days. Instead, I randomly take out something from my awesome book shelf to read. But if I were to choose a right film for a rainy day, then I’d immediately start looking in the history department. Lincoln was one of my favorite movies of 2012. Its cinematic intellectual nourishment that most people will enjoy comes in handy on rainy days.

Kiddie Movie I Still Shamelessly Enjoy

Home Alone (banner)

I mean, look at THAT face. LOL. Every time I watch Home Alone, I yearn to go back in the days and be a kiddo again. Those were the times, right.

Location I’d Most Like to Visit

Harry Potter Hogwarts (banner)

Hogwarts, what else? I know that there is a special theme park somewhere in the States, but if only I could just be sucked into the real deal — especially when it’s Christmas and there is LOTS OF FOOD.

Marathon I Watched

Don’t think of me as a wannabe Harry Potter geek (haha), but I actually have watched all of its movies in about a day at home. That’s how cool I am.

Netflix Movie I Actually Watched

Netflix (banner)

None, because I despise Netflix. I’d rather have Hulu Plus (which I did once) to watch all recent television episodes. Movies are something to be savored the old way, and even if that’s not possible, one can always rent them.

One Movie I Saw In Theaters More Than Once

I’d watched Spider Man 3 when a friend of mine invited me over for a birthday party, and guess what? We went to see Spider Man 3. No regrets though, because I fully enjoyed it…for the second time.

Preferred Place To Watch A Movie

Breaking Bad (banner)

The best place to watch a movie is definitely in an IMAX theatre — you get awesome quality there. However, my preferred place is at home. That’s because I can do whatever I like whenever I like and I’ve control over everything, like deciding when to take a break so I can go to the bathroom. Plus points.

Quote That Inspires Me

The Matrix

This is one of the many inspirational quotes from The Matrix, but you already knew that didn’t you?

Remakes — Friend or Foe

Hollywood (banner)

I think that it’s difficult to generalize here. It really depends on what kind of film we’re talking about. So much for being specific, right.

Snack I Enjoy the Most

Skittles (banner)

I love chocolate. I love popcorn. I love potato chips. I love FOOD. Yet there is one thing that eases my tastes and makes the world a better place and that is Skittles. What a genius invention. They are so delicious and I’m getting even hungry right now.

Thrilling Movie That Blows My Mind

Memento (banner)

After I’d watched this one, I was like ‘WHAT JUST HAPPENED OVER HERE’?! It took me a few moments (no pun intended) to realize what it all meant.

Unapologetic Fanperson For

Jennifer Lawrence

She is a lovely role model for anyone– and, I love her smile and obviously her acting is one of Hollywood’s finest. Not to forget that she’s hilarious as well.

Very Excited For Award Season?

Ron Swanson is excited (banner)

In general, I am very excited for the coming award season. Not so much for the Oscars, or I’ve to say Academy Awards, though since they disappointed me royally last year and the years before that.

Wish I Never Watched

I would like to get 86 minutes of my life back. I don’t know why I even watched this in the first place, but it really sucked and that’s something I don’t say often.

Xxx Movie I Watched At a Young Age (R or NC-17)

I didn’t really watch a lot of movies when I was a kid, so I think there isn’t any Xxx I watched at a young age (which also depends on how you define young). So nothing here for me.

Your latest movie-related obsession

Blogging (banner)

Blogging. Even though I have a lot of work and studying to do, I just love to sit down, open my Mac Air, and write down my thoughts and notes on anything — preferably film.

Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn Part 1 (banner)

Look, even Bella is tight asleep in Edward’s arms. So don’t blame me for falling asleep. While The Twilight Saga part 1 was just all round cliché-ridden teen romances with a bitter end, I actually enjoyed sleeping halfway through it.

Well, that was fun — I had a blast doing this. If you are looking for more Alphabet Movie Memes, there are some great lists out there (listed below) to get you started. Bye for now.

  1. This is a great list! I probably should have put Breaking Dawn in my ZZZ-Catchers section too. I had many microsleeps in the cinema during that one. What a bad film. Also, solidarity on enjoying films at home. I feel like we’re in the minority on that one.

    • Thanks Anna! Glad to know that I’m not the only one who enjoys films at home. It surprises me that I have seriously read all of the Twilight books, yet the films are truly ZZZ-Catchers! I guess something went wrong there.

  2. I like Breakfast at Tiffany’s but it’s a slow going and long for me… and definitely not my favorite of her movies… I’d much rather watch Charade which I just think has a better cast and is way more entertaining… and did you see Breaking Dawn Part II… I went to theaters and everyone was freaking out when the war broke out… apparently some people missed a moment in the book… but honestly I think it would’ve been a better book and movie if that had actually happened… biggest let down ever… who builds up to an epic battle and then just has them all parting ways… booooring…

    • I like how the story slowly progresses and develops in Breakfast at Tiffany’s — it’s something we don’t see often in modern films anymore. I haven’t watched Charade, but I have put on my watchlist now. The entire Twilight franchise is terrible. The last movie, however, could have indeed been so much better if they’d just continued the gruesome battle as it really fuelled up things. It’s a shame they didn’t though and I definitely agree that it made the movie a lot more boring. Thanks for stopping by.

  3. That’s a fun read. Completely agreed on Breakfast at Tiffany’s. And Interstellar. And many more.

Even mostly agreed on Disconnect. I don’t love it, per se, but it’s certainly above average.

    • Thanks, glad you agree with me — especially on Disconnect. I feel like it deserves more recognition as it plays with some really important and relevant themes. Also, I enjoyed a lot of the acting and the gradually building up of emotions. It’s certainly an above average film.

      • Love Dean in Supernatural! Not just for shallow reasons obviously 😉 I should be going to see American Hustle on New Year’s Day so looking forwrad to see Jennifer Lawrence set another film on fire!

  4. I, too, considered Jensen for my celebrity, he is so awesome – have you seen him playing guitar and singing for fans?? My favourite video of him of them all. 😀 So glad to see Potter there! Hogwarts is so cool. Home Alone is undeniably awesome, too! Awesome entry, in every way!

Oh, and psst – I think you forgot the movie part in Thrilling Movie That Blows My Mind. 😉

    • Thanks for stopping by Elina! I read on your Twitter you had/have a terrible cold? Hope you get better soon.
Absolutely.. as I said.. he’s a force of nature! 😀 Oh yes, another Potterhead over here. I’m currently reading the books in French (after having read them twice in English and once in Dutch) — hehe.
As I was editing the images, I forgot to include that one, but it’s Memento. Good thing you mentioned it. And about the link: you’re very welcome. 🙂

  5. Great list! I’m so looking forward to Interstellar. And, Jim Caviezel is such an amazing choice for Batman. Thank you for participating in my movie meme! 🙂

    • Thank you for creating this feature Katy and also thanks for stopping by!. I had lots of fun picking out my choices, especially Jim Caviezel as Batman and Interstellar as my Most Anticipated 2014 film (though I also am highly anticipating the nex X-Men Days of Future Past movie!).

    • Thanks buddy. This is my first time getting nominated for this kind of award, so I will definitely do a post about it. Also, congrats to you for being nominated!
